Four STX Putters Receive The 2010 Golfing Magazine Player's Choice Award E-mail

BALTIMORE, MD. - September 7, 2010 - STX, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that four of their 2010 STX Putter models received the prestigious "Players Choice" award from Golfing Magazine.

According to STX Director of Golf Steve Henneman, "STX is thrilled to receive such high rankings and terrific feedback the Golfing Magazine testers. They represent average golfers who can benefit the most from our Soft Face Insert Technology."

STX had three putters tested in the blade category; the 9740, 9750, and the ProFit 5 Putter. All three received an 8.6 -- the highest ranking for distance and control. Each was presented with the "Best Distance Control" award. This distinguished honor can be credited directly to the STX Soft Face Insert Technology. These inserts cradle the golf ball three times longer than metal face putters and nearly twice as long as other insert putters. This increased "dwell time" means better control, less skidding and a truer roll.

The STX ProFit 6 Putter was tested in the mallet category and received the "Best Appearance" and "Best Impact Feel" award. STX has garnered a reputation for blending art with technology. This award embodies the company philosophy but again the real hero is the STX Soft Face Insert Technology which contributed to the "Best Impact Feel" award.

The chemical composition of the STX inserts provides the signature STX "Feel". They "hold" the ball longer with the putter face. This "dwell" time imparts topspin and improves the feel of the putter.

Testing shows STX Putters have almost twice the dwell time of putters with harder inserts and nearly three times the dwell time of metal faced putters. The difference is due to the relatively high coefficient of friction of STX's inserts.

For a variety of responses and feel, STX Putters are available in the black, red and green insert options. STX offers better putting through chemistry. The black insert is the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and resilience rate plus increased dwell time. Those characteristics are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for true control. And, for golfers who prefer a firmer feel, the green insert provides a harder feel with less resilience.

The "Players Choice" award is presented by Golfing Magazine, a national publication which reaches the active golfer in major regional markets. As the name indicates, the "Players Choice" awards are determined by the magazine's reader/play testers not its staff. The idea is to have average or typical golfers test the equipment and for their evaluations to be published. PGA Professionals manage and assist in the subjective exercise.

About STX
STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry's foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the "softest legal face in golf." In the mid-90s the company's research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.

ADRIAN OTAEGUI WINS 2010 BOYS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP E-mail

15 August 2010, Troon, Scotland Spain’s Adrian Otaegui has become the Champion Boy Golfer for the Year after winning the 2010 Boys Amateur Championship. He defeated Germany’s Max Rottluff 4&3 in today’s 36-hole final at a cloudless Kilmarnock (Barassie). Otaegui is the next in a long line of Spanish winners of the event, including Jose Maria Olazabal in 1983, Sergio Garcia in 1997 and Pablo Martin in 2001.

Having been all-square after the 20th hole, the 17-year-old from San Sebastian, who now lives near Biarritz in France, struck a telling blow in winning four consecutive holes from the 21st to the 24th with scores of par, birdie, bogey and par, respectively. Otaegui had his lead cut to three-up after a Rottluff birdie on the 29th hole, but a birdie for a half on the 30th, followed by three consecutive pars, saw him claim victory on the 33rd after his opponent could only make bogey.

“I am very excited to win this Championship. I played well. I didn’t putt as well as the other days, but I was solid with the irons and I think I only missed two fairways in the afternoon,” said the full Spanish international, who earns an exemption into the 2011 Amateur Championship at Hillside and Hesketh. “The four holes from hole three were very important. I didn’t make many mistakes and Max missed the green a few times.

“It’s amazing to have my name on the trophy next to Garcia, Olazabal and the other good players from Spain who have won. Olazabal is my hero and I sometimes practice with him, so I will call him tonight to let him know that I was the winner. I’m sure he’ll be very happy.

“It has been a great week and I liked this course very much,” added Otaegui, who has been selected in the nine-man team to represent the Continent of Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy Match against Great Britain and Ireland on 27 & 28 August at Castelconturbia in Italy.

For Rottluff, who played alongside Otaegui in the stroke play qualifying rounds, it was a disappointing end to the Championship. But the 17-year-old from Dusseldorf was, nevertheless, pleased with the way the week had gone.

“I actually played better today than I did in the last two days, but it did not go my way and Adrian played very well,” said Rottluff. “The four holes that I lost together this afternoon were bad for me. It’s very difficult to come back against a player as good as him from four holes away.

“I’ve have had a good Championship and I’m happy that I got to the final of the Boys Amateur. I will be back next year to see if I can win it.”

Burnham and Berrow, along with Enmore Park, will host the Boys Amateur Championship on 9-14 August 2011.

Professional Golfer Bubba Watson Wins And Announces Commitment to Caddy For A Cure
Coral Springs, FL., July, 2010 - Caddy For A Cure, Inc., the program that offers a chance to caddie for a day for the world's best golfers, is proud to announce the recent donation commitment from PGA TOUR player and 2010 Travelers Championship winner, Bubba Watson. Watson, largely known for being one of the longest ball strikers on the TOUR, is also one of the most generous and definitely a man of his word. Prevailing in a 2-hole play-off against 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup captain, Corey Pavin and 5-time PGA TOUR winner, Scott Verplank, Watson posted his first PGA TOUR victory. But rather than having someone go inside the ropes for the day as his caddie during his official practice or Pro am round, Watson put his own spin on participating by making a commitment to donate to Caddy For A Cure upon a win.

When Watson won on Sunday, he not only showed his will to win, he showed his integrity and heart. Watson, a devout Christian, praised the Lord, hugged his wife Angie and cried for his cancer-stricken father. Then, when asked what it meant to him to have his first TOUR win, he responded, "It's, well, overwhelming." He said his accomplishments on the golf course help him with charitable work off it. "I will always continue to be charitable...in fact I don't like people caddying for me, but I told Russ at Caddy For a Cure, that if I ever won on TOUR, I would announce on national television that I am donating $50,000 to CFAC." And now, over a year after Watson made this pledge to Holden, he has honored his word.

Russ Holden, Caddy For A Cure Founder, CEO and former PGA TOUR caddie commented, "Our program offers golf fans opportunities with the best players in the world and Bubba definitely fits into that group. Although someone didn't get the opportunity to spend a day with Bubba inside the ropes as a caddie, everyone can get a feel for what a great guy he is, not only as a golfer, but through his integrity and commitment to help others." Holden continued, "The timing of Bubba's donation is perfect for supporting research into Fanconi anemia and its high connection with cancer, particularly given the issues Bubba's family is facing with his father. Advances have been made in developing therapeutics for treating Fanconi anemia that show significant hope for potentially preventing cancer. We are truly grateful for the help from all players in supporting our cause, but Bubba Watson has taught us all a lesson in gratitude."

Caddy For A Cure offers its caddie experiences from its website, www.caddyforacure.com, with auctions for each player. 100% of auction proceeds go to charity and caddie participation is fully tax deductible as allowed by law. The benefitting charities include the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, United States wounded warriors, the PGA TOUR Caddie Benevolent Fund and multiple charities selected by the PGA TOUR players and tournaments.
